Flamingos, Alligators, and Manatees! Oh My!
If you’ve already visited the Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park in Citrus County Florida,
Then you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, then what in the world are you waiting for???
If you’re ready to see some amazing and beautiful creatures, hop aboard the boat and take a short ride down the creek. Or if the water isn’t really your style, take a ride on the tram! Once you’ve arrived at the Fishbowl, you can grab a delicious cheeseburger or chili dog (among other delicious items) and refuel for the journey ahead.
Once you’ve refueled, head into the park and check out all the amazing creatures that make their home inside the beautiful State Park. From black bears to flamingos, Key Deer to manatees, there is something for everyone. Make sure you check out the different show times so you don’t miss getting to see the manatees enjoying their meals. Then head over to the underwater observatory and see if you’ll get lucky enough to see even more manatees! If you’re really lucky (and there during the right season) you just may get to see a calf feeding off its Momma!
Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is full of wonder and beauty and magnificent creatures. And if you just happen to be there in January, make sure you head on back and wish Lu (the only resident there that is not native to Florida) a very happy birthday! While the life span of a hippo is 40 – 50 years, Lu will be celebrating the big 59 on January 28, 2019!
And the best part…. Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park is only 48 miles from Sunshine Village Resort. If you enjoy the beauty and nature of Florida you will not be disappointed.
